We dont often look at the other classes of European Rallycross but today I must draw attention to Division 2 and the success of a very good friend from Dublin, Derek Tohill. (More good stuff after the jump)

Div2 is classified as Touring Cars, homologated in Group A, with rear wheel drive and a normally aspirated engine up to 2000cc; plus non-homologated 4 seat cars, produced in series and regularly on sale in the EEC, with FIA permission. Fiestas, BMW & Citroens are the machines that seem to feature most.

After taking a year out of the Sport, Derek returned following huge investment in a new 2010 program centered around a custom built Ford Fiesta MK7. Year 1 was always meant to be a development year for the team but immediately they found themselves on the pace.
Throughout the 10 event international series, Derek has made it to the Podium 8 times and won 4 of the events outright.

The championship came down to the A Final of the Final event of the season and Derek had to overcome this insane start to take the victory and with it the European Rallycross Championship.

Check out Derek’s blog which has reports, videos and photos from all of the events as well as more information on the car. Worth noting also that Derek is keen to get this car to NJ for some USA Rallycross action. If this happens, I’ll be hoping to make the trip out and get some DeathMachines.net decals on this awesome car!
