Quite possibly the greatest Hip Hop DJ to have ever lived, interviewed by I’m Flashy. He goes into detail about the Bet Hip Hop Awards in 2010 where certain artists teamed up in a cypher and free-styled over some of his break beats. He talks about his future endeavors, and how he wants to bring back the ruggedness that seems to have disappeared. Premier has collaborated with the best of them, some of his beats have undeniably become the greatest hip hop song ever created! From Gangstar to Jay-Z, M.O.P. to Biggie, Eminem to Busta Rhymes, the list just goes on and on.
In the beginning of the video he mentions that this year was the first year that they ran with a father/son cypher, which I truly believe gives amazing validity, and proves to all of those people who back in the day thought Hip-Hop was just some kind of passing fad that was just going to go away. Well here’s 2 classic artists laying vocals in the presence of their own off-spring, and the kids rock with it too! Although this was my favorite cypher in the 2010 BET Awards, they all brought their A-Games to this event, and DJ Premier was the mastermind that brought it all to life behind the wheels of steel.
