Mackey’s History
Raised in Southern California (the hot rod Mecca of the world) and surrounded by top notch custom cars, it is no surprise why Brian Mackey chose the best career of all time, building custom cars and making people’s dreams turn into functional automotive art. The Mackey name has always been known for art,design and mechanics. Brian’s Grandpa, Charles Mackey, is a legend in model airplane design and has a long list of publications beginning in the 1950′s. Since childhood Brian Mackey was exposed to this creative side of his Grandpa and at the age of 17 he went to work for a body shop in Mission Viejo, CA. From there he moved to custom paint and fabrication shops working under very talented individuals. It was then he realized that he had a knack for car building and he decided that one day he would open his own shop. That day came several years ago and today is known as Mackey’s Hot Rods Inc. in Huntington Beach, CA. Brian Mackey, along with right-hand man Austin Yearout, create eye-catching Hot Rods and Customs and demand everything be done the right way or not at all. From chop tops to suspension design and beautiful flowing flame paint jobs, Mackey’s Hot Rods Inc. is on its way to becoming one of the leading Hot Rod shops in the world.
