Harold Hunter is a NYC Skating legend, who passed away at a young age in 2006. The Harold Hunter Foundation was started to honor the legacy of the New York icon and renowned skateboarder. The mission of the Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF) is to use skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness and the development of life skills.

NYC skateboard advocate, Rodney Torres, is proud to announce that on Harold’s birthday, Saturday, April 2nd, he will host a charity skate jam to benefit the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation.

The “NYC All Stars” skate jam will run from Noon-3:00pm at New Jersey’s premier indoor skatepark, Garden Skate. A bevy of NYC’s finest pros, ams and legends will be there to session the park and judge a Best Trick contest with prizes donated by Zoo York, 5boro, SHUT, DC, Hopps, After Midnight, Naysayer, Raised Fist, New Breed, Rockstar Bearings, UXA, Open Road of New York and NYSkateboarding.com. A $5 donation is encouraged upon entry.

Once the skate jam is finished, the Harold Hunter Foundation will host a fundraising party for the 21+ crowd at The Blind Barber on NYC’s Lower East Side. Dubbed “Harold’s Birthday Bash,” the party will run from 5:00-9:00pm and feature a raffle, drink specials and live sets by DJ Smoke L.E.S. and DJ Hiro. A $5 donation is encouraged upon entry.

All donations and proceeds raised during both events will directly benefit the Harold Hunter Foundation and support its mission of using skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness, and the development of life skills.
